If we could peer at each other’s driveways right now, there is a more than reasonable chance that we would be looking at a vehicle with an elliptical blue badge. Written in white across its middle will be the word "Ford". If we find ourselves in one of these many countries: The USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, and often New Zealand, then that car not only has a fair opportunity of being a Ford, it is more likely to be of that brand than any other. Even in some surprising outposts, Ford reigns supreme - Nigeria, Venezuela to name just two. Indeed, the very fact that there is an automobile in our driveways, at all, is, in large part, down to one man. Henry Ford. You’ll listen about:An Automobile for AllBorn to CreateThe Power of FordA Political Beast Plagued by Imperfections"If I’d Listened to Customers, I’d Have Given Them a Faster Horse"And much more!Is everything about Henry Ford good? This is a man who was more than liberally doused in dogma. Ford was a man whose existence changed the way we live. With the Ford Model T, he brought affordable, flexible transport to the masses. Henry Ford opened up the world. Here is the story of a man of contrasts - genius and pendant, pacifist and supporter of thuggery, social liberator and Orwellian Big Brother. Whatever we conclude about Henry Ford, he is undoubtedly a man about whom we should know more.Buy the audiobook and listen to this biography now!PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio. 1. The study aimed at evaluating the potential of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Plc (PAN) effluent for irrigation. Lycopersicum esculentum (tomatoes) and Daucus carota (carrots) were sown in earthen ware pots and irrigated with 0, 10, 30, 50, 70 and 90% concentrations of effluents, in the green house NDA Kaduna. The higher concentration of 70 and 90 % recorded the least percentage germination of 11 %, while 10 % effluent has the highest percentage germination of 66.7 % in tomato. In carrots 0 and 30 % concentration recorded the least percentage germination of 77.8% while 10, 70 and 90 % concentrations had 100 % germination. The roots, stem, leaves and fruits of tomato, and leaves and roots of carrots were separately digested and analysed for the presence of Cd, Cr, Cu, Zn, Fe, Ni and Pb. Carrots and tomato did not indicate significant levels of heavy metal accumulation. Out of the 29 samples analysed only Cd in the leaves of carrot was above the acceptable standard set by joint FAO/WHO expert committee on food additives (1999). Results indicate that heavy metal content from these vegetables may not constitute any health hazard for consumers.
This study discussed the concept of optimization and Lean Six Sigma methods. Lean six sigma methods are a management technique that play significant roles in the maintenance, service efficiency, performance and growth of automobile industry in Nigeria. This study confirmed the significant contribution of lean manufacturing, six sigma and the joint relative of lean six sigma methods on the growth of Nigerian automobile industry. Empirically, the contributions of LSS methods were significant on the aggregate and predicted 40% variation in the growth of automobile industry in Nigeria. The study therefore recommended that automobile companies should view this methods a long-term approach not as a quick stick method.

Despite industrial promotional measures of successive governments in Nigeria, minimal positive results have been achieved and the industrial sector remains under-developed and under-harnessed. One measure which will fasten industrial sector development is through cluster promotion hence the need for a comprehensive survey. This survey is expected to provide a useful insight into clusters in Nigeria focusing on the south-east and south-south geopolitical zones of the country with emphasis on identifying existing and potential industrial clusters in the two regions as well as major constraints inhibiting their operation. Survey findings reveal that the sectors with the highest number of existing clusters in the two geopolitical zones fall under agro-processing, followed by automobile, furniture and wood works, food, oil and gas, foundries, metals and fabrication. A list of their problems include: poor flow of information, infrastructure deficiencies, lack of adequate business networking, poor access to and supply of business development services, lack of articulated advocacy and engagement mechanisms, and skepticism about the feasibility and sustainability of joint actions.
A Multinational Corporation is an enterprise that manages production or delivers services in more than one country. By this definition, Multinational Corporations are expected to assist in the socio-economic development of the country where their businesses are striving through job creation, technology transfer and social responsibilities as appropriate. Most Multinational Corporations have failed in the development of the third world countries as elaborated in this book making reference to Peugeot Automobile and the Nigeria's economy. The Impact of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria as a case study was assessed and both the positive and negative impacts were enumerated.
The Nigeria s third Development Plan of 1975-1980 builds on what was envisaged under the Second Development Plan on building a viable automobile industry in Nigeria. A combination of tariff and non-tariff measures was put in place to ensure the survival and development of the industry. There was an envisaged gradual substitution of imported CKD with local input intake set to be achieved within specified timeframe and beyond. Unfortunately, as a result of trade policy inconsistencies, combined with other factors, up to the year 2000, the average local CKD consumption among firms in the industry was below 25 percent. Hence, the major problems the book tries to examine are the reasons and effects of low level of output, the poor performance of the CKD deletion programme, inability of the sector to link, learn and leverage on progress made in this vital economic sector globally.
